New evidence from study shows quality of sleep
affects weight!
A recently released study done (August 16, 2000) by researchers
at the University of Chicago discovered that there may be a correlation
between middle-age spread and sleep patterns as we age. Not only
does the quality of sleep decrease as we age but the amount of
growth hormone secreted by the body also diminishes considerably.The
study also sites that the decrease in growth hormone of the elderly
can be paralleled with increased fat tissue and abdominal obesity,
reduced muscle mass and strength, and reduced exercise capacity.
The study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association
(JAMA) August 16, 2000 revealed that poor sleep patterns result
in lower growth hormone release - in some cases up to a 75 percent

is usually secreted in the first 90 minutes adults enter into
